Have no fear....a Dietician is here!

I recently saw an amazing article in the Winnipeg Free Press (http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/arts-and-life/life/dial-up-dietitians-ready-with-info-advice-137404338.html) about a phone line dedicated to helping those in need of some nutritional advice from a registered professional.

Let's say you are on a strict nutritional plan but need to eat something ASAP.  You head to the nearest restaurant.  You want to know how many calories such-and-such has, right?  THIS IS THE PLACE TO CALL.  Such a valued service that hardly anyone knows exists.  A plus side too is cost (FREE!!!)  Seeing a dietician one-on-one can be quite costly, so this is definitely an amazing opportunity for anyone needing assistance in their diet without the many other monthly bills to have to deal with :S

Located in Misericordia Health complex - the number to call is 788-8248 in Winnipeg or outside the city at 1-877-830-2892

So NO MORE EXCUSES!!!  Eating WELL when you are on the go is EASY!

Wordless Wednesday - January 4th

As I am writing right now, I am aware that this techinically isn't a "wordless" blog post. I wanted to acknowledge my friend Kristi (please visit her lovely blog), as she is the one that gave me the idea of adding this to my blog. Without further ado....My First WORDLESS WEDNESDAY.  Enjoy!

"I Want To Make You SWEAT"

My sponsor Muscles By Meyers recently got in a new product line called "Sweet Sweat" by Sports Research.  Like the guinea pig that I am, I decided to test it out on the most appropriate split day at the gym, which is of course LEG DAY (the most intense of my workout days).

Here is the product description (above is the promo video):

SWEET SWEAT greatly enhances and accelerates the sweating process during vigorous exercise.  It takes energy to sweat, more energy than most people might think.  And like all energy consuming processes, SWEATING BURNS CALORIES.  A lot of us have difficulty breaking a good sweat on our problem areas (the stomach on men, the upper thighs and waist on women).  Sweet Sweat will cause an additional increase in circulation to these areas promoting a "good sweat."
Sweet Sweat may be used as often as you like, preferably with every workout, there are no harmful side effects from use.  In addition Sweet Sweat's clean, fresh scent which will take away the fear of feeling offensive during and after a heavy workout.

I applied a thin layer of "Sweet Sweat" onto the skin, as the directions state (do not rub into the skin).  It's a little greasy so do wash hands after applying or else your hands will start to feel slippery and most likely sweat as well.  It doesn't have a scent, which is nice.  I have tried the "Preparation H" technique in the past to draw out the excess water underneath the skin, but find that even the so-called unscented kind has a funky smell (maybe its just me?).  One things for sure is that you get a nice glossiness to your skin - think tanning oil.  Kind of sexy :D

I started off with my regular super wide/deep squats and walking weighted pulsating lunges.  I didn't notice any change at first.  It was when I got to my glute raises where I noticed sweat coming through.  I did however find it really hard to stabilize myself in any exercise that required me to either be on a bench, mat or any padded surface.  The slipping and sliding was somewhat of a distraction to the workout - one great disadvantage.  I did however see droplets of sweat forming all over my body especially my lower back.  Sam said it looked like a "pool of sweat" on my back LOL.

My overall thoughts - I did enjoy the product very much so for its thermogenic effect (heating of the body temperature - burning more fat) - definite PLUS.  I would however say, at home workouts with Sweet Sweat would be best since you can apply generously without worrying about the product getting on everything at the gym.

SO with that being said, I give this product an 8.0 out of 10 (10 being the best product ever made in life).  To try it out yourself, head down to Muscles by Meyers and ask for a sample (while supplies last).

Now go work up a SWEET SWEAT!!!
